In the choking half-light of Zedekiah’s secret chamber, Jeremiah steps out of the prison stink still smelling of rusted chains, yet his eyes blaze like lamp-wicks trimmed for judgment. The frightened king, all velvet robes and hollow bravado, whispers the question every backslidden soul finally asks: “Any word from the Lord?” Without flinch or flourish, the prophet hurls a two-word thunderclap—“There is”—and the echo splits the palace, laying bare the peril of stale religion and the promise of piercing truth.
