A real Christian DOES NOT SIN! This is what the scriptures teach in 1John 3:6, 1John 5:18, and many other places. While it is not impossible to sin, it is not normal to sin.  And, when sin enters, then enters death. The Bible teaches that a real Christian who is begotten of God keeps himself from sin by some means.

That means of victory is found in Romans 7:25 wherein Paul says: So then with the mind, I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. So the mind is the object of this sermon. With it, we serve the law of God: but as the mind's thoughts travel and deviate into carnal thoughts and the desires of the flesh, the law of sin.

So this means of keeping ourselves is decidedly controlling our thoughts. This is not willpower or some kind of hypnotizing mind control. We have the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16) and therefore we have the wherewithal to cleanse our ways.  By casting down imaginations and bringing every thought into obedience to Christ we have the power to keep ourselves from sin.

Austin Gatherings uses the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible, and Pastor Mark Jones will be preaching today out of 1 John 5:18-21.
